Picnic in the Park
Hepatitis NSW in collaboration with NUAA and other community organisations coordinates an annual community education project in the Sydney metropolitan area. The project is modelled on the Hepatitis Council of Queensland’s very successful health promotion project, also called Picnic in the Park. It aims to raise awareness about hep C in a relaxed and informal BBQ/Picnic. The events usually feature local youth bands, air brush tattooing, badge making, goodies and more. Most importantly, they provide an opportunity for local young people to connect with relevant service providers in their area and find out more about hep C and their health.
The first NSW based Picnic In the Park was held on June 12th 2008 at Bigge Park in Liverpool. The 2010 Picnic in the Park is being held on Thursday 10 June at Redfern Park, Redfern.
