Gail Snelgar wins 2018 Hepatitis NSW Cheryl Burman Award

Ms Snelgar – a Registered Nurse at the Dubbo Community Health Liver Clinic – has led the development of hepatitis services in Western NSW.

“Gail has been very creative and flexible in fostering hepatitis programs that have provided essential access to both Aboriginal and non-Indigenous people across very different settings,” Hepatitis NSW CEO, Mr Stuart Loveday, said.

Ms Snelgar has forged new partnerships, provided education and developed much needed services in many areas across Western NSW.

“Gail has used technology to provide outreach and support throughout her region which covers a vast area and has some of the most remote communities in NSW,” Mr Loveday said. “She has largely driven these achievements with her own energy and initiative.”

In her acceptance speech at the Hepatitis NSW AGM, Gail said “the real winners of this award are the people who I work with in a wide range of partnerships and the communities of people we serve.”

Hepatitis NSW wishes to congratulate Gail, and to thank all those who were nominated this year as the applications we received demonstrated strong leadership and initiative in the sector.
