If you have had hep C, you might have also been at risk for hep A or hep B. It is important to get vaccinated for hep A and B as soon as possible after your diagnosis, to help avoid further strain on your liver and immune system.

Can you get vaccinated for Hep C?

There are highly effective vaccines available for hepatitis A and B. Currently, there are no vaccines available for hepatitis C. 

What if I’m immune to hep A or hep B?

Blood tests can show if you have a current immunity or not. If blood tests show you do not already have immunity to hep A or hep B, it might be a good idea to be vaccinated.

What if I don’t get vaccinated for Hep A or Hep B?

If you don’t get vaccinated for hep A and hep B, you may still catch the viruses. Having more than one type of hepatitis at the same time can cause serious liver damage, which may turn into cirrhosis.

What should I do if I have Hep A or B and Hep C?

It’s very important to visit your doctor regularly for advice and help managing your hepatitis. Monitoring your liver health will be very important, and you may be put on a special diet to try and keep your liver as healthy as possible. Your doctor might suggest some lifestyle changes, such as avoiding alcohol and exercising regularly.
