Opportunity: Medicines Patent Pool Community Advisory Panel (CAP
The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) is a United Nations-backed public health organisation working to increase access to, and facilitate the development of, medicines and other health products for people in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
The Medicines Patent Pool (MPP) has a new opportunity for members who may be interested in contributing to its Community Advisory Panel (CAP).
MPP is currently seeking additional community representatives with lived experience of, or who are affected by:
- Cardio-metabolic diseases, including hypertension, type 2 diabetes and obesity
- Cancer, including Chronic Myeloid Leukemia (CML)
- Sickle-cell disease
- Malaria
- Viral hepatitis
The CAP provides community and end-user perspectives to help inform MPP’s work on access to affordable, quality medicines and health technologies in low- and middle-income countries. Members may contribute to discussions on disease priorities, unmet needs, medical technologies and proposed licensing agreements.
The position is voluntary and non-remunerated, with a three-year term. Applicants should have experience representing affected communities, ideally through a community network or similar organisation, and have an understanding of public health and access-to-medicines issues. Full proficiency in English is required.
Applications are open to individuals based in any low- or middle-income country, with particular interest in strengthening representation from regions including the Middle East and North Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Southeast Asia and the Western Pacific.
