New Vietnamese pages on our website

Hepatitis B and liver health are important health issues for many culturally and linguistically diverse communities, including the Vietnamese community in Australia, highlighting the need for continued information, awareness and support. To help address this, our new Vietnamese Project Officer, Ha, has created dedicated Vietnamese language webpages, making trusted health information easier to find and understand. The webpages share information about hepatitis B, liver health and hepatitis C, written with a Vietnamese community cultural approach. You can find these resources on the Hepatitis NSW website by switching the language from English to Vietnamese using the language option on the left-hand side of the page. Check out the pages here. This initiative is a part of the HepLink Hep B project funded by the Department of Health and Ageing through the Hepatitis Australia HepLink Australia program.

Yabun Festival

Our Aboriginal Community Engagement Officer, Maia, volunteered at the Yabun Festival on 26 January 2026, supporting the AH&MRC stall as well as the NSW Health Take Blaktion team. Maia helped complete community surveys, and shared merchandise and information about blood-borne viruses and STIs.

Our newest Project Officers, Ha and Lauren, also attended to support advocacy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health.

Closing the Gap at Long Bay Correctional Complex

Here is a beautiful article by ABC News about helping to Close The Gap through art made in Long Bay Correctional Complex. (Image: ABC News: Patrick Thomas)

“It’s a connection to body, mind and emotions, family and kinship, community, culture, country, and spirit and ancestries,” Long Bay Correctional Complex psychologist and Wiradjuri man Craig Raymond said, “allowing Indigenous inmates to paint helps to fulfil these needs.”

“I think people sometimes think that these offerings are a privilege, but my view is that Aboriginal artwork in prison is not a privilege, it’s a prevention,” Craig said.
