Filling Prescriptions (Hep C)

Filling Prescriptions (Hep C)

Who Can Fill My Hep C Prescription?

Treatment is funded through the PBS (Medicare Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme) for Australian adults with hep C who hold a Medicare Card. You will be charged the usual “co-payment” paid for a prescription. This is currently up to $31.60 per script for general patients and $7.70 if you have a concession card (e.g. Healthcare Card).

For Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are registered for the Closing The Gap program, the PBS medications are covered.

Treatment drugs are not usually kept in stock. The chemist will ask you to come back in a couple of days to pick them up.

If you live in an area that has no pharmacies who can fill your prescription, you can use online chemists.

Phone the Hepatitis Infoline for more details.
