Coinfection with HIV and Hepatitis C
Do you have HIV and Hep C?
Your HIV can still be treated if you also have hep C (coinfection). It’s important to be aware of your HIV viral load and CD4 count, and to treat your HIV to keep it under control.
Hep C can affect HIV treatment choices, because of the toxic effects some HIV drugs may have on the liver. There’s no accepted list of best HIV treatments for people with both HIV and hep C.
Hep C progresses more quickly if you also have HIV. You should plan your treatment with your doctor and specialist.
