“The new hepatitis C DAA treatment changed the entire game, changed the entire approach… and we had the opportunity to eliminate it! And Hepatitis New South Wales with our state and territory partners, with our national peak body, hepatitis Australia, worked with those partners… to help eliminate hepatitis C. And that is certainly achievable, but that is not over yet.”
Stuart, former Hepatitis NSW CEO
New hep C treatment and cure became widely accessible in Australia ten years ago on March 1, 2016. Australians living with hep C gained equal access to all oral, interferon-free direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatments, achieving cure rates exceeding 95%. Now in 2026, we ask community members what ten years means to them. #HepCURED10Years
