“We provide testing, but we also teach people about the risks of hepatitis C and we explain to them how easy it is to have the new treatment and that they’ll be supported if their test is positive… I’m proud to support the community promoting a treatment that works this time for hep C.”
Vickie, Peer Worker
New hep C treatment and cure became widely accessible in Australia ten years ago on March 1, 2016. Australians living with hep C gained equal access to all oral, interferon-free direct-acting antiviral (DAA) treatments, achieving cure rates exceeding 95%. Now in 2026, we ask community members what ten years means to them. #HepCURED10Years
